The Prying Goblet Squat: How To Do It & 4 Mistakes to Avoid
Mar 09, 2022If your squats feel tight or cut short, the issue is usually at the hips. The prying goblet squat is one of my favorite kettlebell drills for opening them up and getting your body ready to squat well.
In this video, I show you how to do the prying goblet squat step by step and call out four common mistakes I see all the time. We’ll focus on staying tall, keeping the knees in a good position, and using the bell to gently explore range instead of forcing depth.
I use the prying goblet squat as part of a warm-up before swings, squats, or get-ups. It’s simple, it works, and it helps everything feel smoother once the real training starts.
If you want to see how drills like this fit into a full kettlebell practice, Kettlebell 101 teaches the squat, hinge, and warm-up work that supports strong, clean lifting.
