“Cat has a sharp eye for lifting technique and gives feedback in a way that’s easy to implement.”
I had always wanted to learn how to lift, but I had no idea how to do it sustainably. After a major sports injury in high school, I didn’t want to hurt myself while trying a new activity.
Over the course of three years of training with Cat, I became a confident kettlebell and barbell lifter. I feel strong in my day-to-day life and confident trying new physical activities.
When I first started, I was using 8-10kg bells for single-arm movements and 12-16kg bells for double-arm movements. Under Cat and her team’s guidance, my working weights have doubled since then.
As a lifting newbie, I felt safe asking questions and following her lead. She strikes a balance between pushing her students to challenge themselves and having them honor their bodies when they need to back off.
Cat has a sharp eye for lifting technique and gives feedback in a way that’s easy to implement. She is a fantastic strength instructor for students of all levels. Whether you’re new to kettlebells or preparing for a highly demanding StrongFirst certification, she will help you every step of the way.
My biggest takeaway from working with Cat is that I can do hard things. When you train with Cat, know that you will be listened to, encouraged, and supported.
“Whether you’re a total beginner or an advanced student, the way Chau breaks down fundamentals is the best way to learn.”
I’ve tried a number of exercise programs and none of them stuck. I would get fit and then lose interest and stop going to the gym.
Since I began learning self-defense and kickboxing under Chau’s philosophy and guidance, I’ve found an activity that will stick with me for the rest of my life. I even kept training throughout the quarantine by doing Cat and Chau’s video workouts. It’s probably the fittest I’ve ever been.
I feel secure enough to keep myself and the people around me safe in a dangerous situation, and I have the confidence to walk away from an altercation without losing my pride.
My buddy and I both did Chau’s six-week intensive Krav Maga program over Zoom and our striking and footwork improved significantly. Whether you’re a total beginner or an advanced student, the way Chau breaks down fundamentals is the best way to learn.
The nuggets of wisdom and encouragement that Chau drops during class are priceless. His honest feedback will help you grow as a student and martial artist.
“Whenever I attend a training session with Chau, I always see my skills improve.”
I had wanted to learn self-defense since I was a teenager, but due to painful knee issues, I had resigned myself to the fact that I would never be able to train in martial arts.
I found Coach Chau when I joined Krav Maga Seattle. After a few months of training, I felt genuine confidence in my knees and my body’s strength for the first time in decades.
Whenever I attend a training session with Chau, I always see my skills improve. Whether it’s from the Krav Maga instruction itself or other coaching tips that help me with my health goals, I always get so much benefit.
Chau is a great motivator. He makes his students feel like they’re capable of reaching their goals while pushing them towards achieving them.
Chau’s deep knowledge of Krav Maga, passion for teaching, and compassion for his students make him a wonderful teacher for any skill level.
“Chau goes above and beyond to broaden my understanding of self-defense and combat sports.”
I have been training Krav Maga and martial arts for over four years, and Chau is the most capable practitioner and skilled teacher I’ve ever met.
Chau’s immaculate background in the discipline of Krav Maga speaks for itself. But it’s the wisdom he’s gained from years of cross-training in other martial arts and combat sports that makes his coaching so valuable.
Chau goes above and beyond to broaden my understanding of self-defense and combat sports. I’ve never met another coach who can identify specific errors or technical points as quickly and clearly.
If you’re interested in learning Krav Maga, strength training, movement, or any form of self-defense, Chau and Cat deliver a phenomenal experience.
“It was amazing to see such significant changes in such a short period of time!”
I used to feel like I wasn’t in control when I was using kettlebells. I felt frustrated with my lack of confidence. Oftentimes during a workout, I would either injure myself or give up.
With Cat’s coaching, I was able to fix my form issues. I started to feel comfortable with the variety of movements in the program. I learned that I could handle heavier weights with fewer reps and still get a fantastic yet safe training session in.
The movement compensations I had been making due to poor technique started to evaporate due to Cat’s coaching. It was amazing to see such significant changes in such a short period of time!
I went from exclusively doing single kettlebell movements to doing double bell workouts. I also never thought I would be doing snatch workouts. I can now do a full 20-minute (tough) snatch session!
ne of my favorite things about Cat is her attention to the small details of a lift. She was always able to find new ways for me to improve my technique.
Cat will push you not just to be a better lifter, but a better person. Under her guidance, I am learning how to achieve my goals both inside and outside the gym.
“Chau never went easy on us which helped me build strength, both physically and mentally.”
Chau always had a clear reason for training us the way he did, drawing on extensive experience in multiple disciplines.
He never went easy on us which helped me build strength, both physically and mentally.
Chau always emphasizes situational awareness and things like running towards safety. We practiced de-escalation and flight, things that are not always taught in martial arts gyms.
He made us consider our capacity for being able to defend ourselves instead of solely our capability. I feel like he provided some of the most comprehensive training we could have received. Thank you, Coach!
“I love how Chau breaks down why we use a specific technique in a simple way.”
I have trained with a lot of different instructors, and I can hands-down say that Chau is the best Krav Maga coach I’ve ever trained with.
Whether we’re working on the fundamentals or doing more advanced techniques, I love how he breaks down why we use a specific technique in a simple way.
In one of my kickboxing sessions with Chau, he pointed out that I was not using my hips to power my round kicks. This small correction was a game-changer; now I can do a lot of kicks without getting tired.
Over the past few years of training in Krav Maga, I have become stronger, learned a lot of techniques, and vastly improved my skills. As an added bonus, I also shed some weight.
“What continues to draw me back is Chau’s professionalism, skill, knowledge, excitement, and that he truly cares for the wellbeing of his students.”
I had been looking for a new training program for some time. I find most traditional gym activities such as treadmills boring and quickly lose motivation. I wanted to push myself harder than I had in the past and needed a new challenge and skill to pursue.
I first started training with Chau at Krav Maga Seattle. I was hooked after the first class and found myself signing up for three or four classes per week.
Over several years of consistent training under Chau, I experienced firsthand how he fosters a culture of support, respect, learning, health, and real-world scenarios.
My motivation is the highest it’s been years. What continues to draw me back is Chau’s professionalism, skill, knowledge, excitement, and that he truly cares for the wellbeing of his students.
Chau often takes time just to check in, talk, and see how you’re doing.
Simply stated, Chau is the bar against which I measure any coach.
Thanks to training with Chau, I’m leaner, stronger, and healthier than I have been in years.
